Fu Dog

My mother-in-law had little porcelain statues about her place. Maggie and I discussed whether they were dogs or lions. The poses and paws said “dog” to me. We didn’t have the internet there, I didn’t have a way to look it up. So I used one of the statues as a dog drawing reference.

Hooray, it’s not a lion. It’s a Fu Dog. Which is kind of a lion, but an image of a lion that has become more dog-like over time. Something like that. Lion or dog, it has “dog” in the name, it feels doggy to me and it’s what I did for the day. Sticklers and fans of Chinese culture can take me to task if they like. A Fu Dog for Dog a Day, that sounds fair to me.
