Suki Redux

A while back, I posted a piece I did way way back along with an essay. It was about my parent’s dog Suki. Whenever I look back at it, I feel how weak the drawing seems to me now. Uncertain lines, scratchy bits where I was unsure what to do.

I decided today to redo that piece, but quickly and with quick and confident strokes. No second guessing lines, just going for the quick brush stroke and shading. I used a Sumi-e style for this one. It’s not meant to be great art, just a quick study that had more strength to it than my old piece. I don’t think it’s half bad.
