Maggie once got cross with me when I looked at a photo of a dog and commented on a certain lack of beauty. “All dogs are beautiful,” she told me, and I suppose that’s true. Sometimes, maybe, they just need a bit of help.

And this ribbon works better on this dog than that horrible home-made dress worked on Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink.*

* That’s a comment on the dress, not on Miss Ringwald. But oh how I hated that movie. Even a great Psychedelic Furs tune couldn’t save that pile of detritus.
