Three-Minute Dog

I’ve done a few three-minute dogs this year. It’s just a check-in to see what I can create from imagination with a three-minute time limit. I’ve noticed positive changes in my art and drawing speed in the course of this project, so this isn’t just a lazy attempt to rush the day’s entry.

It is also preparation for 24-Hour Comics Day. This event occurs every October, and is a challenge to create 24 pages of comics in 24 hours. Being able to create and draw quickly is essential. The results usually aren’t brilliant, and I have yet to complete more than 16 pages at one of these events, but it’s the cartoonist’s equivalent of a marathon. I’ll probably work a dog into this year’s entry… if I’m going to be drawing, I should be drawing something that helps me with the Dog a Day Project.
