The true star of the Thin Man films, Asta was a better detective than either of the humans. Probably because he wasn’t drinking at any and all times. Academy Awards have me thinking of movie dogs, and also recently someone actually requested Asta (memory is foggy as to who asked, it was not a clear-headed week). Asta’s real name was Skippy and he was in many many other films, including the Cary Grant film The Awful Truth.
